PERRYSBURG – Right or wrong, Kaylee and Kelsey Draper have often been lumped together.
But after the Perrysburg seniors signed national letters of intent to play Division I soccer on Thursday,
the two are heading their separate ways so to speak.
Kaylee Draper will play college soccer at Bowling Green State University, while twin sister Kelsey Draper
will play at Valparaiso University.
Both received partial academic and athletic scholarships.
"It means a lot to us. We’ve worked so hard together and we compete against each other a lot,"
said Kaylee Draper, who played mostly as a defender for the Yellow Jackets. "It will be really good
for us to have our own identity for once, instead of being lumped together all the time."
The two will actually play against each other when BG and Valpo meet next season.
"My sister and I have worked so hard to get here, so being able to sign together on the same day
means a lot," said Kelsey Draper, who mainly played midfield for Perrysburg. "I think it will
be nice to play against each other. That will be fun. We’ll certainly keep in touch but it will be good
to play on our own."
Both Drapers made a name for themselves on the field, helping lead Perrysburg to the regional finals and
a 16-2-4 record last season.
Kelsey Draper was a first-team All-Ohio, first-team All-Northern Lakes League, and first-team
All-District pick as a senior. She totaled seven goals and eight assists and served as a tri-captain.

Kaylee Draper was a first-team All-NLL and second-team All-District selection as a senior. She finished
with 20 points, including seven goals, and also served as a captain.
"They both have worked so hard over the years and they’ve been able to bring so much to our program,
not only field smarts, but also abilities and their intensity on the field," Perrysburg coach Mike
Murphy said. "They’re just extremely savvy and skilled players. They’ve really brought the level up
for us."
Murphy expects both to have success at the college level.
"They’re both the types of players than you can plug in anywhere," Murphy said. "They
bring the work ethic with them that allows the great athletes to succeed at the college level. They both
have that."
Both Drapers said they plan on studying in the field of medicine in college.
"BG was just the right fit," Kaylee Draper said. "I want to keep my grades up and just be
the best I can, try my hardest and work hard."
Kelsey Draper, who also considered playing at BG, echoed her sister’s sentiment.
"We had to work to get here. So that’s kind of made me who I am today," she said. "I hope
to keep my grades up, do well in school and hopefully get some playing time my freshman year."
