Crash near Bradner injures five

BRADNER – Five people were taken to an area hospital after a head-on collision between a truck and a fuel
tanker Thursday morning, northeast of the village on U.S. 23.
According to the Bowling Green Post of the State Highway Patrol, at 10:05 a.m. Francesca Lopez, Fostoria,
lost control of her 1998 Ford F150 extended cab pickup truck while heading northbound on Route 23. She
slid left of center on the icy roadway, and struck head-on a 2006 International 3600 fuel tanker driven
by John Queen, Toledo.
Lopez and her four passengers, James Birchfield Jr., and juveniles Laticia Birchfield, JayAndre
Birchfield and Ariyana Birchfield, all of Fostoria, were taken by Wood County and Bradner EMS to
Fostoria Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. All were wearing seat belts, and airbags were
deployed in the pickup truck.
The roadway was reportedly closed for approximately 90 minutes while debris from the crash was cleared
up. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Lopez was cited for left of center.
