BG women return home from long road trip (02-04-11)

After an extended stay in DeKalb, Ill. because of poor weather conditions, the Bowling Green women’s
basketball team returned to Bowling Green late Thursday afternoon.
While in DeKalb, the Falcons broke their two-game losing streak with a 67-64 win over Northern Illinois
on Tuesday night.
BG’s win, combined with Eastern Michigan’s 75-66 win over Kent State on Wednesday, moved the Falcons back
into a first-place tie in the Mid-American Conference East.
BG and Kent State are both 6-3 in conference play. The Falcons are 18-4 overall.
BG hosts Ball State Saturday with tipoff at 2 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the
All-Anderson Team will be honored in pregame ceremonies beginning at approximately 1:40 p.m.
Curt Miller and his coaching staff probaably were using the extra time in Illinois, looking for ways to
get BG’s senior guards back into the offensive flow.
In BG’s last three games, Lauren Prochaska has scored only 25 points. She is 7-of-32 from the field,
including 0-of-10 on 3-pointers, and 11-of-15 from the free-throw line.
Meanwhile, point-guard Tracy Pontius has 20 points in the last three games. She is 6-of-22 from the line,
5-of-15 on threes, and 3-4 from the free-throw line.
During the three-game span, Miller has said both Prochaska and Pontius have been bothered by injuries.

Meanwhile, senior post players Jen Uhl and Maggie Hennegan have picked up the slack.
Uhl has 43 points and 24 rebounds in the last three games while Hennegan has scored 34 points and pulled
down 19 rebounds. Uhl is 7-of-12 on 3-pointers in the last three games.
RECORD: Prochaska needs 17 points to become BG’s career scoring leader. Jackie Motycka, who holds the BG
career record with 2,122 points, should in attendance Saturday as part of Alumni Day and as a member of
the All-Anderson team for the women’s basketball program.
BALL STATE: Ball State is 9-13 overall and 4-5 in the MAC West after a 68-59 loss to Ohio University on
Wednesday.
Emily Maggert, a 6-foot-1 senior, is averaging 16.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game to lead the
Cardinals.
Also for Ball State, Ty’Ronda Benning, a 5-6 senior, is averaging 13.1 ppg and has a team-high 38 made
3-pointers.
NEXT: The Falcons have a week between games before heading to Eastern Michigan on Feb. 12 with tipoff at
2 p.m.
