Freedom Twp. changes schedule
PEMBERVILLE – The Freedom Township trustees have changes their meeting dates for the year to the second
and fourth Tuesday of each month. (Meetings used to be the second and fourth Monday.)
The meetings will still be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall in Pemberville. The next meeting will
be held on Feb. 8.
Zickar joins elections board
Perrysburg Township resident Mike Zickar was sworn in Tuesday by Wood County Clerk of Courts Cindy Hofner
as a new member of the Wood County Board of Elections, joining Mike Marsh, John Miller and Richard
Newlove.
Zickar is the chairperson of the Wood County Democratic Party’s Executive Committee and is a psychology
faculty member at Bowling Green State University.
After being sworn in, Zickar said "Wood County’s Board of Elections has a history of working in a
bipartisan fashion to promote voter access and to make sure that elections are run fairly and
efficiently. I look forward to carrying on that tradition."
BG Eagles open for Super Bowl
Bowling Green Eagles on North Main Street will be open to the public Sunday for the Super Bowl.
Hours will be 10 a.m. until the end of the game.
Drouillard cancer benefit Sunday
A Chris Drouillard Cancer Benefit will be held Sunday at Central Park West, 3141 Central Park West,
Toledo.
Drouillard is the son-in-law of Jim and Pat Denniston. Jim Denniston is the former used car manager at
Thayer Chevrolet.
An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner runs from noon to 6 p.m., with a Super Bowl Party starting at 6 p.m.,
featuring burgers and brats.
There is a $10 donation for adults and children 3-10 are $5. There will be raffles and a cash bar.
Weston Legion cancels supper
Weston American Legion Post 409 has canceled Friday’s planned supper due to the weather.

Police handle string of thefts at Fremont Pike Walmart
LIME CITY – A number of theft incidents were recently reported at the Walmart located on Fremont Pike in
Perrysburg Township.
On Jan. 21, it was reported that a white male suspect approached a cash register and short-changed the
clerk for $70. The incident was captured on closed-circuit television.
On Jan. 22, Sarah Loving, Rossford, was arrested and issued a summons for theft after the store’s asset
protection officer stated that she had been observed selecting "scrubs" and cosmetics which
she later concealed in her purse. The items she put in her purse were not purchased when she and another
woman, identified as her mother, purchased groceries.
On Jan. 23, two women were arrested for petty theft after three units responded to the store on the
report that two African-American female suspects were concealing items in plastic bags and putting them
in a shopping cart. One woman reportedly went to a register to pay for other items while the second
woman waited with the cart containing other merchandise. The women, identified as Melissa Smith and
Marla Smith, both of Toledo, were arrested at their vehicle. It was later learned that Marla Smith had
several outstanding warrants for her arrest.
Boy reports being chased
PEMBERVILLE – A boy reported being chased by a subject in a vehicle Sunday in the village.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:18 p.m. a teenage elementary student came into a
business in the 200 block of East Front Street and reported that he was being chased by a subject in a
black car.
He was unable to provide any additional details and was picked up by his father.
