Entries are now being accepted for the third annual Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by the Woman’s Club of
Bowling Green, American Association of University Women, and Zonta. The event, which started as part of
Winterfest in 2008, is Feb. 19 in Veterans Hall (south room) in City Park, beginning at noon.
The sponsors note that any chili recipe will qualify as an entry. The entry fee remains at $10 and is
open to persons in one of two categories: (1) professional/institutional chefs or (2) community cooks
(both organizations and individuals). Enough chili should be prepared to serve 100 people a 3-tablespoon
portion. Table space, bowls, spoons, napkins, and electricity (one outlet per entrant) will be provided.

The deadline for entering is Feb. 11. Entry forms are available from the sponsoring organizations, the BG
Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce. The entry form and fee should be mailed to or
dropped off at the BG Parks and Recreation office at 1291 Conneaut Ave. Checks should be payable to the
Woman’s Club.
The top three vote-getters in each of the two categories will receive a special prize, and all entrants
will receive a certificate, noting their achievement of creating a tasty product ranging from mild to
"flame thrower."
The fee for persons who want to taste the chili entries remains at $5. All chilis may be tasted with
votes to be cast for the "best" in the two categories. Tasting will be from noon to 2 p.m.
followed by ballot counting and awarding of prizes.
There also will be a bake sale of cookies, brownies, etc. Donations will be accepted for these items.
All three sponsoring organizations plan to use the proceeds for their scholarship projects.
Serving as the coordinating committee are members from the three organizations, Deborah Wooldridge, AAUW;
Michelle Grigore, Zonta; and Joan Gordon, Woman’s Club.
