Bowling Green voters will decide one race for Bowling Green Council during the May 3 primary election.

By Wednesday afternoon’s filing deadline at the Wood County Board of Elections, two Republicans had filed
for the council-at-large seat. William J. Herald, 1030 Conneaut Ave., and Roger Mazzarella, 1237
Brownwood Drive, will run for the position, with the winner then facing Democrat Bruce Jeffers, 150
Meeker St., in the general election. Incumbent Democrat Terry Dunn did not file for reelection.
As of Wednesday’s deadline, only one candidate, Republican Richard A. Edwards, 205 Willowood Circle, had
filed for the position of Bowling Green mayor.
In three of the city’s four wards, one candidate from each party filed. Consequently, no primary run-offs
will be required in those races.
The only unopposed council candidate is Democratic incumbent John Zanfardino, 244 S. Summit St., who has
no competition for his Second Ward seat.
Those candidates who will face off in the November election are:
¥ First Ward: Democrat Danielle McConnell, 724 N. Enterprise St., No. 33, and Republican incumbent Mark
Hollenbaugh, 315 Parkview Drive, Lot 92.
¥ Third Ward: Democrat incumbent Michael Aspacher, 25 Parkwood Drive, and Republican Crystal Thompson,
559 Sand Ridge Road.
¥ Fourth Ward: Democrat Sandy Rowland, 200 Larchwood Drive, and Republican Gregory W. Robinette, 1501
Cardinal Road. Incumbent Republican Mike Frost did not file for reelection.
Write-in candidates have until Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. to file petitions, while independent candidates have
until May 2 at 4 p.m. to file petitions.
