A man with Bowling Green connections has been named as director of the Strategic Business Investment
Division of the Ohio Department of Development.
Nate Green, who graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1997, is the son of former Bowling Green
resident Mary Davis Green.
"My roots are deep in Bowling Green," said Nate Green, who started his job this week with Gov.
John Kasich’s administration.
Most recently, Green was working as executive director of the Pickaway Progress Partnership.
In his new state position, Green will work to attract and retain jobs in Ohio. He stopped short of saying
the current business environment is challenging.
"It’s a very exciting time in economic development," he said.
Green plans to focus on rejuvenating the state’s economy, and preserving the jobs at existing
manufacturers.
"We’ve lost a lot of jobs in the state,"
And Kasich has made it clear, this is "a new day for economic development" in Ohio.
Specifically, Green’s division will work on offering tax incentives, loans and grants to businesses.
"We’ll be one of the big driving forces," he said.
Green, who previously worked at the Ohio Department of Development, was also president of the board of
directors of for the Ohio Economic Development Association.
"I hope they selected me because I’m well known in economic development and I do a good job,"
he said.
