Lake girls fourth again
COLUMBUS – Lake’s girls basketball team was ranked fourth once again in this week’s Associated Press
state poll. The Flyers received 152 points.
Last week Lake (15-0 overall, 8-0 Suburban Lakes League) was fourth with 148 points.
The poll is on page 11 today.
Weather postpones basketball games
Tuesday’s area high school basketball games were hit hard by the inclement weather.
Following are the rescheduled dates:
Girls – Anthony Wayne at Bowling Green, Feb. 17; Maumee at Perrysburg, Thursday; Southview at Rossford,
Feb. 10; Springfield at Northview (boys and girls varsity doubleheader), Feb. 8; Oak Harbor at Lakota,
Feb; 15; and Hopewell-Loudon at Elmwood, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. junior varsity start;
Boys – Eastwood at Woodmore, Saturday; Elmwood at Genoa, Feb. 8; and Gibsonburg at Otsego, Feb. 22.
The Danbury at Northwood boys games scheduled for Tuesday was postponed, but no makeup date has been
announced.
Also the Owens Community College men’s and women’s doubleheader tonight against Cuyahoga CC has been
postponed.
BGSU football recruit updates
Bowling Green State University head football coach Dave Clawson will announce his 2011 signing class live
at 2 p.m. today at bgsufalcons.com.
Fans can also get up to the minute updates on letters of intent as they come into the BGSU football
office, video interviews with many of the assistant coaches and much more additional information on
twitter (www.twitter.com/BGathletics).
Falcon women receive votes
Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team received four votes and were ranked 36th in this week’s USA
Today/ESPN Top 25 poll.
The Falcons, 18-4 overall and 6-3 in the Mid-American Conference, received 29 votes and were ranked 27th
in last week’s poll.
The poll is on page 11 today.
Spencer hired at Vanderbilt
NASHVILLE, Tenn – Sean Spencer, the defensive line coach at Bowling Green State University of the past
two seasons, has taken a similar position at Vanderbilt University.
Under Spencer’s guidance, the Bowling Green defensive front posted 40 sacks in the 2009-10 seasons.
Spencer, who is starting his 11th year as a defensive line coach, guided the defensive line and served as
special teams coordinator at UMass in 2007 and 2008.
BGSU football reception changed
PERRYSBURG – Bowling Green’s football signing Day reception, scheduled today at 5:30 p.m. at the Hilton
Garden Inn in Levis Commons, has been moved to Thursday due to weather concerns.
The event will still take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Levis Commons on Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m.
