Junior fair board met with its senior members

On Jan. 24, all livestock committees from the Wood County Junior Fair Board met with Senior Fair Board
members to discuss rules and regulations for the 2011 Wood County Fair. Adults and teens from the swine,
beef, dairy, sheep, goat, and poultry and rabbit committees met in their respective groups.
The committees then reviewed the schedule of events for the upcoming fair and discussed ideas for reform.

Plans for livestock weigh-ins and barn improvements were made, and all livestock exhibition rules were
reviewed as well. Any additions or corrections pertaining to youth livestock projects will be printed in
the 2011 Wood County Fair Book, so that 4-H and FFA families can start making preparations for raising
this year’s fair animals.
Both fair boards have worked to ensure that this year’s livestock shows and sales will run smoothly and
efficiently due to these recent policy updates. With preparation for the upcoming fair underway, the
Junior Fair Board will meet again for a workshop on Feb. 21.
