PERRYSBURG – The case of a Michigan man arrested for carrying a weapon into the Islamic Center in
Perrysburg Township, has been continued following his transfer to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric
Hospital.
Perrysburg Municipal Court Bailiff Doug Spencer said Thursday that Ylli Gocaj, 26, of Livonia, Mich., was
transferred to the Toledo facility on or about Jan. 14 and that the transfer was done by the Wood County
jail.
Gocaj’s case had originally been scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Gocaj was arrested Jan. 11 on a charge of illegal conveyance of a firearm in a school safety zone, a
felony, after police were called to the Islamic Center by staff who reported concerns about questions
Gocaj was asking them. He later admitted to having a gun and a concealed carry permit from Michigan
while talking to Perrysburg Township Police. A loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in his
waistband.
