Ruth Smith

Ruth C. Smith, 74, of Bowling Green, Ohio died Saturday, November 7, 2009.
Ruth was born in New Riegel, Ohio to the late Francis and Marie (Buchman) Hohman. She married Ronald C.
Smith on January 16, 1954 in New Riegel and he survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving are two sons: Larry (Amy) Smith and Steve (Rhonda Garvey) Smith, both of Bowling Green;
four daughters: Karen (Bill) Herald of Bowling Green; Linda (Ed) McKendrick of Waynesville, Missouri;
Lynette Oberhouse of Pemberville, Ohio; and Lisa (Tom) Westrick of Palaminas, Arizona; a sister: Doris
(Ronald) Parkins of Maumee, Ohio; three brothers: Floyd (Martha) Hohman of McCutchenville, Ohio; Roy
(Ann) Hohman of Dexter, Kansas; and Merle (Diane) Hohman of Findlay, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a 1952 graduate of New Riegel High School.
For many years, she worked with Student Registration at Bowling Green State University. She also was a
licensed realtor with the former Boggs and Bivens Realty and most recently with AA Green Realty in
Bowling Green.
She was a devoted member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she was an Extraordinary Minister
regularly helping distribute communion in church and to area nursing homes; she also helped with funeral
luncheons. She had volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and also with the Toledo Diocese
Cursillo helping with Retrovaille.
She enjoyed her family immensely, loved to travel and shop.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. with a Family Scripture Service at 1:30 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME &

The Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, PO Box
485, S. Summit St., Bowling Green. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
