Owens Community College will honor American service men and women as students host Veterans Day
activities Wednesday.
A flag raising ceremony will take place at noon in front of Administration Hall. A moment of silence will
follow the ceremony. Additionally, World War II veteran Frank Duncan of Perrysburg will serve as a guest
speaker and discuss his wartime experience and how it compares to modern day.
Those interested in chasing away the fall chills are invited to attend a Veterans Day Chili Cook-Off from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the College Hall Atrium on the Perrysburg Township campus. Freewill donations will
be accepted and entitle each person to sample the various chili.
The Veterans Day Chili Cook-Off is being presented by the Veterans Student Club and all event proceeds
will be donated to the Honor Flight Northwest Ohio, which is dedicated to sending veterans of Northwest
Ohio to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built and dedicated in their honor.
