On Friday, November 6, 2009, Edwin (Ed) Mutchler, 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family at
Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
He was born in Perrysburg, Ohio, on February 5, 1918, to Albert and Ida (Lukert) Mutchler.
He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1936 and later graduated from Davis Business College in
Toledo.
Ed married Josephine (Jo) Mutchler on June 28, 1942, and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this
year.
Ed was a lifelong member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, as was his father before him.
During World War II, Ed worked at Willys Overland Plant, now known as Jeep. He went on to work there for
nearly 42 years, retiring in 1985.
While retired, Ed loved to travel with his wife and friends, with trips that included Hawaii and Germany,
as well as winter stays in Las Vegas. After retiring he bought a Ford Model T, which he didn’t keep too
long, as he found a car that was very similar to his first car, a Ford Model A. As a member of the
Flying Quail Model A Club, he and Jo made frequent trips in their Model A.
They frequently loaded up as many of the their beloved grandchildren as they could fit and enjoyed
participating in parades, such as the Roche de Beouf Parade in Waterville and most of the parades held
in Perrysburg.
Ed was also a long time member of Harbor View Yacht club, where he was proud owner of their Lyman
Islander, Muchie.
He was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. Dad left no doubt to all of us that his family was his
most important treasure.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather of six.
Ed is survived by his son Thomas (Sue) Mutchler of Ashland, Ohio; daughter Denise (Gary) Ehrmin of
Perrysburg; and sisters, Dorothy Moosman of Waterville, and Cathryn DeCant of Loveland, Ohio. His
grandchildren include Leslie Mutchler of Austin, Texas; Drew Mutchler of Columbus, Ohio; Dennis
(Frances) Ehrmin of Columbus, Ohio; Stacy (Kevin) Warren of Maumee; Megan Ehrmin of Columbus, Ohio; and
Emily Ehrmin of Waterville.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife who passed away on October 12th of this year, parents, son, Dennis
Lee Mutchler, and brother, William Mutchler.
Our family would like to thank Patty and Kathy from Comfort Keepers who doted on Dad these last 18
months. We would also like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of the comfort and support they
provided him.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, from 3 to 9 p.m. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home,
Perrysburg (419 874-3133).
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Zoar Lutheran Church. Burial will
follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH. 43551-
