Public retirees will meet Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Wood County Senior Center in Bowling Green.

Weston leaf pick-up starts
Weston’s leaf pick-up started Monday and will continue through Nov. 19. All leaves need to be curbside by
7 a.m. Bagged leaves, brush and garden waste will not be accepted.

Dinner helps out Bateson family
A spaghetti dinner benefit for Laurie Bateson will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at VFW Post 1148, 719
S. Main St., Bowling Green.
Proceeds will be used to help with expenses in her treatment for breast cancer.
There will be a live auction with Bill Davies, a 50/50 raffle, cash bar and live music by Brass Tack 5.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 3 to 10. No charge under age three.
Academy seeks canned food
The President’s Leadership Academy 2009 Cohort is collecting canned and non-perishable food items for
Martha’s Soup Kitchen. Members on Sunday started leaving bags at residents’ doors in the area of Wood
County Hospital, and will start picking up bags with donated items on this Sunday.
BG Eagles help
Toys for Tots
The Bowling Green Eagles is hosting a Toys for Tots drive in memory of Mike Sponsler. The event will be
Saturday with breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the lodge, 1163 N. Main St.
From 8 p.m. to midnight, the band Dowling Road will provide entertainment. A $2 cover charge will be
waived by donating a new, unwrapped toy.
The public is welcome to all events and new toys will be accepted all day.
