Gala diabetes fundraiser Nov. 6
PERRYSBURG – Carranor Hunt & Polo Club will be the setting for the 2009 Sweet Success Gala on
Nov. 6 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The event is the fourth annual fundraiser for Diabetes Youth Services.
The Sweet Success Gala helps to fund educational services for more than 3,000 children in northwest Ohio
and southeast Michigan living with type 1 diabetes. DYS teaches children and their families to manage
their diabetes on a daily basis through summer camps and year-round programming. DYS also trains school
staff.
Gourmet grazing stations and a cash bar will be event highlights. W wide range of items will be offered
in silent and live auction formats. These include travel packages, sports tickets, theatre and music
experiences, and golf instruction and tee times. In addition, a live auction will help to fund campers
and advisers at the DYS education camps Big Shots and Little Shots each summer.
Beth Rose of Beth Rose Auction will host the evening’s activities and lead the live auctions.

Seminars for entrepreneurs
TOLEDO – The Women’s Entrepreneurial Network (WEN) training center will offer its "Getting
Started" seminars for people interested in starting a business.
The first seminar, "Getting Started in Business," is next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown
Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 325 Michigan.
"Writing a Business Plan" follows on Nov. 3, with "Marketing Your Business" on Nov.
10 and "Financing and Record-keeping for Your Business" on Nov. 17.
The seminars cost $15 each or $40 for all four. Advance registration is required. Call (419) 536-6732.
