Prep Roundup: Lake girls soccer remains perfect

Lake’s girls soccer team improved to 5-0 overall Saturday with a 4-1 win over Northwood.
Kayla Encalado, Hannah Cox, Shelby Antonacci and Drew Plummer each scored a goal for Lake and Cox added
an assist. Sandy Koch scored for Northwood, now 3-1-1.
GIRLS SOCCER
Otsego 4, Cardinal Stritch 2
At Oregon, Otsego claimed the non-league victory.
Kenzie Chalfant scored twice for the Knights, while Hannah Phares and Kaley Brown each scored once.
Phares and Mary-Cat Roehl each had an assist for Otsego.
VOLLEYBALL
Lake wins twice
At Lakeside, Lake defeated Danbury, 25-21, 25-22 and Oak Harbor, 25-13, 26-24.
Lake’s leaders against Danbury were: Kaysie Brittenham, 12 kills; Rachel Duncan, 19 digs; and McKenzie
Whiteman, 12 assists.
In the win over Oak Harbor, Lake’s leaders were: Duncan, 21 digs; Lauren Densic, 16 kills; and Katie
Everhardt, 10 assists.
Otsego downs Maumee
In Tontogany, Otsego defeated Maumee, 25-12, 25-13, 17-25, 25-15 in a non-league match Saturday.
Otsego’s leaders were: Autumn Berry, 45 assists; Baley Bernthisel, 21 kills; and Ashley Holzwart, 10
kills.
Northwood splits pair
At Genoa, Northwood beat Toledo Start, 25-21 and 25-23 before Genoa downed the Rangers, 25-19, 28-26.
Northwood’s leaders against Start were: Shelby Gasiorowski, 10 kills, eight digs, four aces; Sammie
Brisbin, eight digs; Alyssa Rable, nine assists; and Shannon Robedeau, eight assists.
Against Genoa, Gasiorowski had nine kills and two aces and Brittany Whitmore had eight digs.
Northwood is 4-1 overall.
Van Buren beats NB
At Van Buren, Van Buren defeated North Baltimore, 25-9, 25-12, 25-13 in a non-league match.
NB’s leaders were: Mackenzie Carpenter, seven assists and five digs; and Leona Euler, two blocks.
GIRLS GOLF
Elmwood finishes fourth
Elmwood was fourth in the White Division of the Lima Central Catholic Lady Thunderbird Golf Invitational
held at Hawthorne Hills Saturday. Delphos St. John topped the seven-team field at 201. Elmwood finished
with a 230 total.
Scoring for Elmwood were: Karly Haughawout, 52; Colleen Mathias and Alison Bentley, 58 each; and LeeAnna
Houtz, 61.
BOYS GOLF
Eastwood finishes third
At Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, Eastwood was third and Rossford 10th in the Bellevue Invitational. Fremont
Ross won the 13-team event with a 318 total. Eastwood finished at 332 and Rossford was at 356.
Eastwood’s Jon Juergens was third overall with a 76. Other Eastwood scores were: Austin LaVoy, 80; Tommy
Blanchard, 86; and Cody Jennings, 90.
Rossford’s scores were: Josh Perry, 83; Tony Ott and Travis Jones, 89 each; and Ryan Businger, 95.
Junior Varsity results
VOLLEYBALL
Van Buren defeated North Baltimore in two matches.
FOOTBALL
Eastwood defeated Rossford, 46-6. The Eagles are 2-0.
