Art museum talks for visitors with memory loss

TOLEDO – Meet Me at TMA is a monthly program hosted by the Toledo Museum of Art, in cooperation with the
Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter.
This monthly program features interactive tours of the museum’s collection of art, tailored to
individuals who are experiencing forgetfulness, mild confusion or difficulty find the right words, along
with their family members and caregivers.
Upcoming Saturday program dates are:
¥ Sept. 5, 1:30- 2:30 p.m.
The Great Gallery: A Dramatic Vision
¥ Oct. 3, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
The Cloister: Medieval Exploration
¥ Nov. 7, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
The Classic Court: Egypt, Greece and Rome
The Meet Me at TMA program provides an expressive outlet for dialogue through guided tours and discussion
in the galleries. Specially trained museum educators engage participants in lively dialogue, as art can
be a rich and satisfying experience while providing stimulation to people with Alzheimer’s disease.
The museum is at 2445 Monroe St. at Scottwood Ave. Parking, admission to the museum and to this special
program are free.
Program participants will meet at the visitor’s information desk just inside the Grove Place entrance to
the main museum building. The galleries are accessible and free wheelchairs are available at each
entrance of the main museum building and at the Glass Pavilion.
