Prep Roundup: BG tennis records victory over Bryan

Bowling Green’s tennis team improved to 4-0 for the season with a 3-2 non-league won over Bryan Tuesday.

BG’s Maddie Telecky won at No. 2 singles, while the Bobcats’ doubles teams of Bethany Hoehner and
Stephanie Motsinger, and Abby Sell and Gina Buzzelli each posted a win.
GIRLS GOLF
Eastwood takes fourth
At Sylvania Country Club, Eastwood finished tied for fourth out of eight teams Monday in a Northwest Ohio
Girls Golf League tournament. Whitmer and Findlay tied for first with a total score of 188. Eastwood
finished with a score of 194, tied with Notre Dame. Lima Central Catholic was third at 193.
The Eagles’ Alyssa Shimel finished second overall with a 40. Notre Dame’s Molly Sterling took medalist
honors with a 39.
Others scores for the Eagles were: Hailey Bess, 49; Mikayla Young, 50; and Delaney Gentry, 55.
Perrysburg 190,
Mercy (Mich.) 191
At White Pines, Perrysburg slipped past Mercy High School by one stroke.
Perrysburg’s scores were: Kendall Tudor, 45; Jenny Lee, 46; Becca Tudor, 47; and Lauren Diehl and Jill
Nelson, 52 each.
Rossford finishes fourth
At Bedford Hills in a Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League match, Rossford was fourth with a 240. Northview
won the five-team event with a 177.
Rossford’s scores were: Katie Wellman, 57; Amy Welling, 58; Jenny Parrish, 62; and Kaitlin McConocha, 63.

Lake 173, Evergreen 193
At Chippewa, Lake won its non-league match with Evergreen.
Lake’s scores were: Casey Witt and Nate Yeager, 40 each; Jake Materni, 42; and Cole Brossia, 51.

Mohawk 190
At Seneca Hills, North Baltimore won a Midland Athletic League triangular and improved to 7-0 overall.

NB’s Andrew Peters was the medalist with a 38. Other NB scores were: Marcello Trevino, 42; Peter Euler,
46; and Matt Archer, 48.
BOYS SOCCER
BGHS 3, Oregon Clay 0
Bowling Green opened its season with a shutout of Clay Tuesday.
Xavier Brown scored two goals for BG and Brian Shaw had a goal and an assist. Max Beattie had one assist.
Will Hess made one save.
Lake 1, Liberty-Benton 1
In Millbury, Lake and Liberty-Benton played to a tie in the season-opener.
Bryant Philo, on an assist from Drew Metz, scored Lake’s goal. Tim Metz made eight saves for the Flyers.

Otsego 3, Emmanuel Christian 2
In Toledo, A.J. Rodgers scored two goals as Otsego opened its season with a win.
Tony Gerwin also scored a goal for the Knights while Mark Young had two assists and Brady Kane had one.
Jacob Stvartak made seven saves.
GIRLS SOCCER
Rossford 4, Van Buren 0
In Rossford, Sarah Waggoner scored two goals and added one assist as Rossford blanked Van Buren in its
season opener.
Aubrey Strausbaugh and Jenny Destatte each added a goal while Blair Caldwell and Rachel Swope each added
an assist. Megan Hirzel made nine saves for Rossford.
Lake 5, Delta 0
In Delta, Lake’s Hannah Cox and Shelby Antonacci each set single-game school records as the Flyers’
posted a shutout in their opener.
Cox’s four goals and Antonacci’s four assists were both records. Samantha Phalen also scored a goal for
Lake and teammate Ashley Timmons made seven saves.
Northwood 4, Cory-Rawson 0
In Northwood, the Rangers opened the season with a shutout as Kayla Kurth scored three goals. Shelby
Romstadt also scored a goal for Northwood and Jessica Grindle had an assist. Megan Hess made five saves
for Northwood.
Eastwood 5, Toledo Bowsher 0
At Toledo, Eastwood cruised to the non-league victory.
Riki Rossman scored three times for the Eagles and Brie Rapp scored twice. Kate Nicely had two assists,
and Jessica McClain and Sam Starkey each had one.
Kristen Martin made seven saves for Eastwood.

BOYS GOLF
At Tanglewood, Perrysburg defeated Eastwood, 191-196.
Nick Ralson led Perrysburg with a 42. Brice Bassett led Eastwood with a 44.
