Two-day book sale at library in BG
The Friends of the Wood County District Public Library will be holding a book sale this weekend.
The sale will begin Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and continue Monday from 12 to 5 p.m. Many categories of
books will be available.
Books will be sold for $1 or three for $2. Proceeds will be used to help provide new books for the
library.
Stargazing event Saturday night
GRAND RAPIDS – Public star gazing, with a focus on Saturn, will be offered Saturday night at Beaver Creek
Park on Long Judson Road just south of Grand Rapids.
It will be offered from 10 to 11:30 p.m., weather permitting.
The program is free and open to the public.
The relative position of Earth and Saturn are such that Saturn’s rings have largely disappeared from
view. The rings will appear as a black line across the face of the plant and a brighter line on either
side of it. The event occurs approximately every 13 years.
Saturday’s program is being presented by the Wood County Park District in cooperation with the Toledo
Astronomical Association.
Skeeter Eaters Sat. at Mary Jane Thurston
GRAND RAPIDS – ‘Skeeter Eaters’ is the program Saturday at Mary Jane Thurston State Park.
Meet at 8:30 p.m. at the Day Use Lodge to learn about one of Ohio’s most misunderstood creatures, BATS!

An interactive program will be followed by an evening hike with the naturalist’s bat detector.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Jingle & jive, sing & dance to the beat Monday at 2 p.m. at the Wood County Library
Children’s Place if you are between the ages of three and six.
Listen to some jazzy stories and do some fun activities.
Middleton trustees change meeting
HASKINS – Middleton Township Trustees have rescheduled their first August meeting to July 29 at 6:30 p.m.

The change is to avoid a conflict with the Wood County Fair. Trustees will meet at the township building
in Haskins.
