PEMBERVILLE – Carolyn W. (Schuerman) Melcher, 95, of Pemberville, died Saturday (June 27, 2009) at
Otterbein-Portage Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville.
She worked on the family farm.
Mrs. Melcher was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, and the church’s quilting group.
She enjoyed both sewing and quilting.
Born May 15, 1914 in Pemberville to Henry and Anna (Schwarte) Schuerman, she married Harry Melcher on
March 14, 1936 in Pemberville. He died Oct. 5, 1984.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Melcher and twin Cathryn Failor; and a brother,
Franklin Schuerman.
Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Dierksheide, of Wayne, and Joyce Geisbuhler, Pemberville; four
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Rev. Jeanne English will officiate. Burial
will be in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey. A bereavement luncheon will follow at the church.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home, Luckey. Additional
visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the church’s bell choir or a charity of the donor’s choice.
