BG board has new meeting time
Starting in August, the Bowling Green Board of Education will hold its monthly meetings on the third
Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The announcement was made at the board’s meeting earlier this month.
Also at that meeting, board members adopted new courses of study including physical education 9-12, plus
weight lifting; kindergarten music; Honors World Culture: English component; and Honors World Culture:
social studies component.
Resignations were accepted from John Kirkbride, school counselor at St. Aloysius School, and Kathleen
Mertler, fourth-grade teacher at Kenwood Elementary.
The board approved the hiring of Eric Radabaugh as high school math teacher, and Kathryn Kurdys as Title
One reading teacher at Crim and Kenwood elementaries.
Penta Board plans Monday meeting
The Penta Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. Monday in the board room of the
Penta Career Center on Buck Road in Perrysburg Township.
Dickey earns Rotary scholarship
The Rotary Club of Waterville has awarded Otsego High School graduate Kara Dickey with one of its annual
scholarships.
Dickey plans to attend the University of Dayton where shew ill pursue a degree in medicine through the
Air Force ROTC program. She received the Rotary’s Mark Knerr Scholarship valued at $1,000.
Eastwood honors top band members
PEMBERVILLE – On May 19, the Eastwood High School Band held its annual awards banquet. The evening
included a potluck meal, a multimedia show and the presentation of awards.
The following students were recognized for their outstanding achievements: Eastwood Band Booster
Scholarship, Meagan Vance; outstanding freshman, Emily Elston; outstanding sophomore, Allison Bailey;
Outstanding Junior, Rebecca Shirling; outstanding junior, Greg Witker; outstanding senior, Meagan Hardy;
National Marching Award, Emily Shufeldt; Semper Fidelis Award, Meagan Vance; and John Philip Sousa Band
Award, Susan Lang.
