Keeping your congregation cool

0

"Cool Congregations" is a workshop to help congregations reduce its carbon footprint and save
energy.
The event will be held on June 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Road,
Perrysburg.
Registration includes entry to Green Energy Ohio’s Renewable Energy Showcase.
The program is being sponsored by Ohio Interfaith Power and Light.
The Cool Congregations program has helped hundreds of congregations work together to save energy and
money.
All area churches are invited to send a team from the congregation to learn how this workshop and toolkit
can help that congregation do the same.
This workshop also serves as an education component required for congregations who wish to receive an
energy audit or make energy efficiency improvements with no up-front cost from OhIPL, and qualifies the
congregation for a pre-audit visit from an OhIPL volunteer who will help complete a carbon footprint
analysis and set operating programs for the church.
This Cool Congregations workshop is a "train-the-trainers" event. Those attending will be given
all the tools and knowledge needed to bring Cool Congregations back to their home congregation.
Cost for the three-hour workshop is $25, $20 for members and $15 for students.
The workshop will include information to save 10 to 40 percent on energy bills; the religious response to
climate change; information to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of the church, to name a few.
The workshop is part of the Northwest Ohio Green Energy and Green Jobs Regional Workshop and Tradeshow.
