Norman Dull

Norman Dull, 79, of Groton, Conn., died May 23, 2009.
He joined the navy at 16, and retired after 20 years as a master chief sonar man. Mr. Dull then worked
for the Naval Underwater Sound Lab in New London, Conn. for more than 20 years.
He was a member of Groton Lodge of Elks and was a Free Mason for more than 50 years.
Mr. Dull was a parishioner of Groton Congregational Church and the superintendent of Starr Burying Ground
Cemetery.
His hobbies included carpentry, gardening and cooking.
Born May 20, 1930 in North Baltimore, he was married to Joan Iler for more than 47 years. She died in
1997. In 1999, he married Marilee Foster, and she survives.
He also is survived by three sons, Skip, of Mexico, N.Y.; Gene, Gold Canyon, Ariz.; and Miles, of Groton;
a daughter, Barbara Cole, Mystic, Conn.; four stepchildren, David Foster, East Hampton, Conn.; Kristen
Powers, Groton; Pamela Campbell, Orlando, Fla.; and Jeff Foster, also of Mystic; a brother, Jon Shane,
of Wayne; two sisters, Sharon Buckingham, also of Wayne, and Donna Sue Dillon, Perry, Okla.; 21
grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held earlier this week in Connecticut.
Byles-Groton Memorial Home, Groton, handled arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Restoration Fund of Groton Congregational Church.
