‘Be Creative’ is summer reading program theme

The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library has been getting its act together in
preparation for this summer’s Reading Program, "Be Creative @ Your Library!"
The program kicks off Saturday with the gala opening of the ARTrageous Gallery. Children of all ages are
encouraged to visit the gallery to register for the summer reading program. Registration begins Saturday
and continues all summer. The program ends in mid-August with a final raffle.
Throughout the summer, children will report all their reading, including books, magazines, and comics as
well as any recorded books they listen to and what was read to them. They will gain points, earn prizes,
and more chances for a final raffle.
Families are encouraged to pick up a calendar of programs at the Children’s Place desk or to check out
the online calendar at www.wcdpl.org.
Every Monday morning, the Children’s Place will show a movie with popcorn. On Wednesdays, Music Makers
ages 8 and up can join in a chime choir. All programs are free, including preschool storytimes and
reading buddy programs. Creativity Counts=Let’s Read Math, another weekly buddy program, in partnership
with AAUW, has been supported by a grant from the Bowling Green Community Foundation. The Children’s
Place is also partnering with the Toledo Museum of Art, the Mazza Museum, the Wood County Committee on
Aging, the Wood County Fair Board, Bowling Green Area Schools, Horizon Youth Theatre, and Bowling Green
Park and Recreation.
