Notre Dame plans to create 80 new faculty posts

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — The University of Notre Dame is
moving ahead with plans to create about 80 new faculty positions
targeted in key research areas.
School officials say the new hires
on the South Bend campus will be paid for with about $10 million in
funds that have been reallocated from lower-priority projects.
The
hirings are planned over a number of years and will be part of the
school’s Advancing Our Vision program that focuses on research.
The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1dU4wFi ) the hires will be in 10
research areas, including nanotechnology, nuclear physics, biochemistry and biomolecular engineering.
