The club met on Nov. 15 at First United Methodist Church. After members enjoyed social time and snacks, Co-President Carol Ballard opened the meeting with members responding to roll call by naming their favorite garden hint. Kathy Schultz was introduced as a new member. Joyce Osterud presented a program on bulbs, identifying several kinds and their individual characteristics, times and methods of planting, and care during and after flowering. Jo Vernon provided each member with a vase, hyacinth bulb, charcoal pellet and ribbon, along with instructions to bring the bulb to bloom indoors.
The club will meet on Wednesday at the Bowling Green Country Club beginning at 3:30 p.m. for a holiday celebration. Program will be the Bowling Green High School Madrigals, introduced by Music Chair Donna Schmidt. As a club service project, members are asked to bring a pair of new men’s, women’s or children’s socks, which will be donated to various community charitable initiatives.
The club met on Sept. 20 at Althaus Farms in Perrysburg Township. Members enjoyed a social time as they shopped in the farm’s store and greenhouses.
The club met at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the home of Deb Krukemyer. President Tracey Briggs called the meeting to order. The minutes of the September meeting were approved as read. There was no treasurer’s report.
The club will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Wood County Senior Center. The program will will be Impact of Domestic Violence on Children presented by a speaker from the Cocoon, a local agency for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
