Bowling Green police recovered a stolen truck valued at $75,000, but the driver escaped.

A Bowling Green Police Division officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle that had hit on the license plate reader camera on Tuesday at 2:27 a.m.

The officer reportedly spotted a gray 2020 Ford F250 in the 100 block of South Mercer Road.

As the officer pulled up to the truck, the truck’s engine started and the truck started to exit the parking lot, driving toward the officer, according to the report.

The truck continued at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit ensued and the vehicle was found on Bentwood Lane.

Due to high weeds and dirt piles around the truck, officers did not approach the truck.

Two Wood County Sheriff’s Office drones were deployed and no one was located in the area.

After determining there were no heat signatures around the truck, it was approached. No one was inside.

The truck was reportedly stolen from Ottawa County.

Police found a jacket and cell phone in the area.
