Sentinel drops paywall
In anticipation of the bad weather and the possibility of missing postal drops for delivery to homes on Friday, plus having no newspaper on Saturday due to the Christmas holiday, the Sentinel-Tribune will take down the paywall for its online access and e-edition beginning Thursday evening.
The paywall will return Tuesday afternoon.
EMA updates weekend forecast
Wood County Emergency Management Director Jeff Klein reports that the forecast has continued to remain constant for rain Thursday, with a drop of temperatures to a low of 10 degrees early Friday morning. Winds of 35-40 mph with gusts up to 55mph are expected. The National Weather Service in Cleveland remains confident travel will be very hazardous throughout the day Friday.
Temperatures Friday and Saturday will be in the single digits, combined with the wind, dangerous wind chills will be forecasted.
Sunday will be dry with winds decreasing between 12-18 mph and high of 13 degrees with a low of 4 degrees.
There is low confidence with the snowfall from just about all meteorologists. The consensus is averaging 4 inches total for this event.
Otsego, Eastwood close campuses
TONTOGANY — Due to the likelihood of nasty weather over the next few days especially ice and strong winds, the Otsego Local Schools campus will be closed starting at 6 tonight to noon Monday.
There will be no games, practices, or rehearsals allowed during that time.
The details regarding the boy’s basketball game scheduled for Friday at Gibsonburg are still being worked out.
The Eastwood campus and Pemberville School will be closed Friday through Sunday to all activities. Administrators will determine Monday when buildings will reopen for practices, but noon will most likely be the earliest.
Knitters invited to social circle
Join the Wood County District Public Library for Stitch, Please!, a new social knitting circle that meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in Meeting Room C at the Bowling Green library.
Stitch, Please! is for people of all skill levels, even for those who have never picked up knitting needles. If you’re new to knitting, this circle will teach you basic skills to get started on your newest hobby.
Bring a current project or start a new one. The first social is Jan. 17 and 15 seats remain.
