Prep roundup: Frank, Lee lead Royals to 55-38 win over Comets

GENOA — Cara Frank and Madi Lee scored 14 points each to lead Elmwood to a 55-38 Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball victory over Genoa Saturday.

Elmwood improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the league while Genoa falls to 1-5 and 0-4.

The Royals led by just two, 7-5, after one quarter, but outscored the Comets 17-5 in the second quarter to begin pulling away.

Frank also had six rebounds, five assists and three steals, and Lee had three steals for the Royals.

Aubrey Johnson scored nine points, McKenzie Laird scored six, Anna Meyer scored three, Selina Deal and Brynn Laugherty scored two points each, and Kate Keiffer added one point for Elmwood.

The Royals were 15-for-50 from the field, including 6-for-16 from three-point range and Lee and Laird getting two treys apiece.

For Genoa, Gabby Lopez, Addisyn Moritz and Molly Coleman scored nine points each.

Hardin Northern 63, North Baltimore 37

NORTH BALTIMORE — Hardin Northern led by just 9-8 after one quarter, but outscored North Baltimore 26-12 in the second quarter on their way to a 63-37 victory Saturday.

Zeb Wilson led Hardin Northern (3-2) by scoring 25 points, including hitting on five three-point goals.

Owen Clark led North Baltimore with a double-double 22 points, 12 rebounds and two steals. Wyatt Baltz scored nine points for the Tigers.

The Tigers made 22-of-42 field goals, including 2-of-7 from three-point territory. NB had 27 turnovers and 28 rebounds in falling to 1-5 on the season.

Van Buren 50, Lakota 20

KANSAS — Parker Bahare scored 16 points and James Homan added 10 to lead Van Buren to a 50-20 non-league victory over Lakota Saturday.

Collin Zender led Lakota with eight points, Mitchell Rosser scored five points, Zane Frey-Quick scored three points and Mitch McDaid added two points.

For the Black Knights, Peter Harrington and Jackson Gregory scored seven points each, Reese Reichley scored six points, and Hudson Sendelbach added one point.

Van Buren is 3-2 while Lakota is winless in five games.
