Aviation museum in Michigan to host Bomber Buffing party

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — An aviation museum working
to help save Rosie the Riveter’s old Michigan plant is hosting a Bomber
Buffing party nearby.
The free event is being held by the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport west of Detroit.
Volunteers
are asked to come out Saturday and polish to a high gloss the aluminum
skin of the B-17 "Yankee Lady" and B-25 "Yankee Warrior."
It’s
part of an ongoing effort to raise the cash necessary to save part of
the former Willow Run bomber plant in Ypsilanti Township. That’s where
Rose Will Monroe and other workers built a bomber an hour to aid the
American war effort.
A group called Save the Bomber Plant recently said it needs to raise $1.5 million by May 1 to prevent
demolition.
