BG’s Rutherford earns academic honor
Craig Rutherford, a senior long snapper on the Bowling Green State University football team, was named to
the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team. Rutherford maintains a perfect 4.0 grade-point
average, while majoring in secondary education.
Rutherford, who serves as the long snapper on all extra points and field goals, has helped the Falcon
kicking game convert on 11-of-17 field goals and 24-of-25 extra points.
He is a graduate of Eastwood High School.
Rutherford has also been nominated for the William V. Campbell Trophy given by the National Football
Foundation to the nation’s top scholar-athlete.
Tickets for O-G game to go on sale today at Eastwood
LUCKEY – Tickets for Eastwood’s regional semifinal game in the state high school football playoffs will
go on sale this afternoon in the school’s main office.
The Eagles face Ottawa-Glandorf at Findlay’s Donnell Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
The tickets will be on sale today 1-7 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and Thursday from 8
a.m.-7 p.m.
Advance tickets are $7 and all tickets at the gate are $9. Eastwood receives a portion of the income from
the advance tickets sold.
Lake’s Powell honored
MILLBURY – Lake senior cross country runner Zack Powell has earned All-Ohio academic honors.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have attained a 3.5 grade point average or better receive the
all-academic recognition.
BGSU seeks input for name of team store at Stroh Center
The Bowling Green State University athletics department and the BGSU Bookstore are seeking input for the
name of the team store that will be part of the Stroh Center when it opens for the 2011-12 athletic
year. Fans are invited to suggest a permanent name for the retail outlet.
The team store will feature an approximately 1,500 square-foot retail shop with the latest Falcon
athletics gear in a highly-visible corner space in the Stroh Center. It will be open throughout the year
and for special events.
Nominations are now being accepted for the team store name and will be taken until Dec. 10, 2009. At that
time, the list will be narrowed and fans will be able to vote for their choice among a short list of
finalists.
