Elmwood dances in the moonlight at prom

BLOOMDALE — Elmwood High School’s prom, held on April 6, was a night of magic, remembrance, and community spirit. Under the theme of “Dancing in the Moonlight….Total Eclipse” and adorned with the colors of black, royal blue, silver, and white, the event brought together 187 students and 37 chaperones for an unforgettable evening.

With black linens and black chair covers, accented by alternating silver and royal blue sashes, every detail in the auditeria exuded elegance and sophistication.

The festivities began with the Grand March at 6:00 p.m., a dazzling display open to the public, showcasing the students in their finest attire as they made their grand entrance.

Guests were treated to a feast prepared by The Country Farmhouse and included savory chicken alfredo to crisp green beans and garlic toast. Desserts by Marissa Lafountaine and Katie Bishop added a sweet touch to the evening along with Amish Pies from Elmwood graduate Steven Sterling’s Amish Deli.

KNS Sweets, owned by another Elmwood graduate, provided cupcakes that were as delicious as they were visually stunning.

Throughout the night, DJ Devin Clark kept the music flowing, ensuring that the dance floor remained alive with energy and excitement. Each prom-goer was greeted with a personalized YETI 10 oz cup, serving both as a name tag and a keepsake.

Amidst the celebration, the prom also honored the memory of a student who passed away earlier that year. Her presence was felt throughout the evening, from the playing of her favorite artist’s songs to the inclusion of her favorite color, red, in the decorations and refreshments. Red butterfly cookies and the serving of Takis, her favorite snack, were tributes to her memory.

After Prom, held at the school, was a continuation of the festivities, made possible by the support of the Athletic Boosters. Drinks and popcorn were provided, ensuring that the fun continued long into the night. The Tamale Guy served up some fan favorites, while sno-cones and snacks were enjoyed as well.

Junior Class Advisor Roberta Bodnar, along with the Prom Committee, planned both Prom and After Prom, emphasizing the importance of attention to detail and early preparation.

The prizes, ranging from gift baskets to gift cards, added an extra layer of excitement to the night, as attendees eagerly awaited the drawing of each raffle ticket.
