A Perrysburg man accused of attempted murder will remain in the care of a psychiatric hospital.

Cody Wahl, 30, appeared via video May 14 in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matt Reger.

At a one-day trial in October, Wahl was found not guilty by reason of insanity of the offenses of attempted murder, two counts felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence.

He was involuntarily committed to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital, Toledo, in November.

His appearance was part of a statutory review hearing.

Wahl has been placed on a Level 2, which requires him to remain at and unable to leave the hospital.

“You look good and it’s my understanding you are following the care as prescribed,” Reger said.

Wahl said he had no questions at this time.

Wahl allegedly used a knife to attempt to kill a juvenile on July 15. He caused or attempted to cause serious physical harm to the juvenile and a female.

Both were family members.

Wahl is subject to court jurisdiction for 16.5 years, which was the maximum prison sentence that could have been set.
