Marcena Bockbrader, age 97, life resident of Pemberville, OH passed away on May 14, 2024 at Otterbein Senior Living in Pemberville.

She was born on August 14, 1926 in Pemberville, OH to Kenneth O. and Laurel (Zimmerman) Beeker. She graduated from Pemberville High School and went to work at the Tiedke’s Dept. Store in downtown Toledo. She married Leon F. Bockbrader on April 18, 1947. They were married for 67 years.

She worked at two different factories (Daybrook and Modine) in Human Relations and as an Industrial Nurse. After retirement, Marcena volunteered many hours at the O.P.V Gift Shop and Riverbank Antiques Shop. She enjoyed being with friends and had a zest for life.

In addition to working, Marcena was a homemaker and was actively involved with the Pemberville First United Presbyterian Church, Charter Member of CCL, voter precinct worker, Pemberville Senior Center, and Opera House concerts. She and Leon spent time camping with the Good Sam Loafers Chapter #15–she and Leon were named King and Queen in 2003. She was an avid card player–especially bridge and she loved Bingo. She and Leon were named 2005 Pemberville Fair King and Queen.

Marcena was a breast cancer survivor. She is preceded in death by parents, husband Leon in 2015, sister Mary Joan VanVohris in 2016, son Bradley in 2012.

She is survived by son: Rodney (Dolores) Bockbrader of Freeport, OH; daughter: Melissa (Mark) Heineman of Curtice, OH; daughter-in-law: Shari Bockbrader of Pemberville, OH. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: Joel (Hayley) Heineman of Portland, OR, Bryan Bockbrader of Los Angeles, CA, Megan (Jim) Ferguson of Ball Ground, GA, Kristen (Jason) Reilly of Rossford, OH, and Justin Bockbrader of Pemberville, OH; and twin great-grandchildren: Emmarie and Easton Ferguson; and Keagen Reilly; and her very special cat, Maybelle.

Family and friends will be received 9-11 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2024 with a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Burial will follow at Pemberville Cemetery. Officiating will be Pr. Jim Miller.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pemberville First United Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice. Marcena wants to thank everyone for their thoughtful deeds of kindness in her later years.
