Dentists recognized for veterans clinic

On Friday, Phipps, Shevlin, Hebeka Family Dentistry held their annual Stars, Stripes and Smiles veterans dental clinic where doctors and staff volunteered to treat veterans who needed teeth cleaning, a tooth pulled or a filling at no charge.

Bowling Green American Legion Post 45 Commander Greg Robinette and post Adjunct Dave Ridenour presented doctors with a plaque of appreciation for their devotion to the city’s veterans community.

“We at Post 45 just wanted to say thank you to the dental office for doing this. They’ve been doing it for a number of years and its a nice outreach to the veteran community,” Robinette said.

The office has been providing the service since 2017, said Ryan Phipps, and it was in answer to a major need.

Not everyone receives dental benefits, he said.

“This is the most exciting day in the office,” he said.
