Daniel Archie Smith

Daniel Archie Smith, 77, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on May 10, 2024 at Birchaven Village in Findlay, Ohio.

Born on March 14, 1947 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Clyde & Ferne (Belleville) Smith, Dan went on to become a lifelong educator with a strong appreciation of farming and woodworking. Dan is a graduate of Bowling Green High School (‘65), Bowling Green State University (Bachelors of Speech ‘69, Masters of Business Administration ‘75).

Dan’s devotion to God, friends, and family was demonstrated daily through his love shown to his wife of nearly 55 years, Donna Mae Emlich Smith, his son, Jason Curtis Smith (Teresa Dryden), and daughter, Sarah Danielle Smith Frederick (Jason). He took great pride in the extensive accomplishments of his children as well as his grandchildren, Jonas Michael Frederick, Lillian Mae Daliece Frederick, Josephine Danielle Grace Frederick, and Evelyn DeAnna Rose Frederick.

Dan will most be remembered for his diligent work ethic and always finding a way to abundantly provide for his family. Extended family and friends know that if something was built by the hands of Daniel Archie Smith, it was meant to last. His infectious laughter over mischievous antics with dear friends and family including several cousins, nieces, and nephews will be missed.

Daniel Archie Smith is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Wilson Smith and Ferne Belleville Smith; a brother, Gerald William Smith; and a sister, Naomi Ruth Smith Pockett.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, from 4-6 p.m. at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 West Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18 beginning at 11 a.m. at the same location with internment to follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green.
