PERRYSBURG – The Perrysburg Board of Education has named Kellie Johnson as the new principal at Fort Meigs Elementary School.

The board approved the appointment at a workshop meeting Wednesday.

Johnson, a graduate of Perrysburg High School and Ft. Meigs Elementary School, began with the school district as a classroom teacher at Woodland Elementary School. She has since served as principal of Ft. Meigs Elementary School, assistant principal of Perrysburg High School and executive director of human resources. She also recently worked for Battelle for Kids as a school improvement coach.

She replaces Marjoe Cooper, who has been named superintendent of Lake Local Schools. The board accepted his resignation, effective July 31.

Johnson was given a two-year contract, starting Aug. 1, with an annual salary of $121,000.

“We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Johnson back to Perrysburg Schools and this position,” said Superintendent Tom Hosler. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to all that she does. Our students, staff members and families will benefit from her leadership as well as her knowledge and skill in a variety of areas, but most importantly her dedication and compassion.”
