Wanda Eileen Smith, age 99, of Bradner, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday (April 29, 2024) at Otterbein Senior Life Community near Pemberville, Ohio.
She was born on September 29, 1924 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Morris Michael & Alforden Salina (Oviet) Myers. She married Albert W. “Banty’ Smith on August 9, 1943 in Bradner, Ohio and he passed on November 17, 2001.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Sandra Loew of Fremont, Ohio, Bonnie (James) Bowe of Pemberville, Ohio; grandchildren, Rod (Laura) Bowe, Jodi (Michael) Baker, Brad (Stephanie) Bowe, Jennifer (Joel) Salazar; great-grandchildren, Noah, Rudy, Emma, Jack, Alex, Leah, Nathan, Zach, Tyler, Ryan; great-great-granddaughter, Everly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris & Alforden; husband, Albert; son-in-law, David Loew, brothers, Walter, Murrell, Earl; sisters, Mildred Laney, Norene Myers.
Wanda was a 1942 graduate of Bradner High School. She worked for 10+ years at Autolite in Fostoria, Ohio as an assembler and for 7+ years at the Pizza Company in Pemberville, Ohio.
She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Bradner, Ohio as well as the Priscilla Circle of the church. She was a member of AARP and the Bradner Senior Center. She enjoyed working in her yard attending to her flowers, reading, going boating at Gem Beach on Lake Erie. Her and Banty enjoyed traveling in their motorhome having travelled to 48 states and wintering many years in Arizona.
Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. Saturday (May 4, 2024) at St. James Lutheran Church in Bradner, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Melanie Haack officiating.
Burial will be in Bradner Cemetery near Bradner, Ohio with a bereavement dessert & fellowship to follow back at St. James Lutheran Church Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
