FINDLAY — The Perrysburg softball team had a legion of offensive stars Tuesday as the Yellow Jackets cruised to a 22-0 shutout of Findlay in five innings at Babcock Field.

The Yellow Jackets (16-3) combined for 30 total bases on seven extra base hits for a season-high run output. They had three doubles, led by two from Maison Gerrard, and three triples – one apiece from Aly Seuberling, Hayley Griggs and Yesenia You. Griggs also added a home run for good measure.

“I was just really happy with the way we were swinging the bats,” Perrysburg coach Ryan DeMars said. “I thought we did a good job of seeing the pitches and just barreling up the ball. We had a lot of good contact today.”

The top of the lineup raked for Perrysburg as the trio of Griggs, You and Gerrard hit a combined 9-for-9 with seven runs and nine RBI. Griggs drew a pair of walks and when she was allowed to hit the ball, she went opposite field for a triple and a home run.

“I was super impressed with how Hayley was willing to be disciplined at the plate and took care of things when she got pitches she liked,” DeMars said.

Of that trio, You had a game-best four hits while adding three runs and three RBI. Griggs had a game-high four runs and four RBI while Gerrard knocked in a pair.

Jessica Miller scored three runs out of the cleanup spot, and Aly Seuberling went 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs from the seven-hole.

“We did really well offensively,” Seuberling said. “We had a lot of strong hits today, I’d say more than we’d usually do. Everyone was really solid at the plate. That’s what we have to bring every game.”

In the circle, the duo of Gerrard and Maddie Von Sacken combined for a two-hit shutout with just one walk and four strikeouts. Gerrard tossed the first three innings while Von Sacken pitched a clean final two innings in just 23 pitches.

“Maison did a great job opening up for us,” DeMars said. “She’s coming off a little bit of an injury so we didn’t want to take any chances once we had a lead there. So, we brought Maddie in, and she’s has been doing a phenomenal job for us as well this year. Both pitchers have just been really great and always give us a chance to compete.”

The win, which was Perrysburg’s fourth straight, featured the 10th double-digit run output for the Yellow Jackets this year.

Perrysburg, which served as the home team as the site of the game was switched due to Monday night’s weather, scored eight in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run triple from Griggs. The Yellow Jackets tacked on three more in the second, nine in the third and two in the fourth.

Findlay fell to 12-5 on the season with the loss.
