On Sunday around 11:10 p.m., Bowling Green police were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Main Street for a report of a female attempting to enter an occupied residence without permission.

Marion Byars, 46, Bowling Green, was arrested for felony burglary.

According to the report, when officers arrived at the scene, they spoke to Byars in the parking lot. Byars stated that she had attempted to go to her friend’s apartment to give them a hug but was pushed out.

Byars attempted to enter the apartment twice and reportedly injured her elbow when she was pushed out. Officers observed a strong alcoholic odor on Byars’ breath with glossy eyes. Police then asked Byars if she needed medical attention, which she stated she did.

The complainant told police that Byars attempted to force the door open, stepping across the threshold and into the apartment before being pushed out. They had no contact to Bryars prior to the incident.

After receiving medical attention, Byars was placed into handcuffs and escorted to the police cruiser. After doing so, Byars began slamming her head against the plastic divider, according to the police report.

She was taken to jail.

Earlier Sunday, police had been dispatched to the same area for a dispute between two neighbors.

According to the report, when officers arrived at the scene, the complainant stated that they were having issues with the neighboring apartment. The complainant stated that they were previously friends with their neighbor until receiving several harassing messages.

The complainant advised police that they filed a police report with the BGPD a few weeks ago. At the time, they were advised not to contact the neighbor. The complainant told officers they had received a text message from their sibling who stated that they were also receiving harassing messages from the neighbor, according to the police report.

Police then spoke to the neighbor regarding the text messages, who admitted to messaging the complainant’s sibling but said she did not know she wasn’t supposed to contact them.

Byars was responsible for the harassing messages.

Police advised Byars that she was not to contact the complainant or any of family members.
