Garden Group of Women’s Club of Bowling Green gathered on April 16 at the Summerfield Community Building for an interactive activity presented by Christine Wright, owner of ReFabbed Chaos. Members were invited to bring their own containers, select from a variety of succulent plants and create their own unique planter. As members assembled their planters, Co-President Susan Enright opened the meeting with each answering roll call by suggesting the best type of seed for feeding birds.

Five Minutes or Less Presentation was given by Pat Limes on Columbine, sharing photos and the benefits of planting these flowers. In Standing Committee Reports, Jo Vernon reported on Sandhill Cranes and the possibility of seeing them during their migration in April. Sharon Daniels suggested dividing house plants at this time of year, but do not set them outside until the final frost of the year. Wright also cautioned that succulents will not survive outside until temps are above 50 degrees, day and night. Jean Ladd complimented Wright for using old buttons for bracelets and reminded members that any time we reuse, we recycle. Pat Limes has offered to fill the Sunshine position, keeping in touch with members needing cheer.

In new business, a sign-up sheet was passed around for 2024-2025 programs. Linda Kuhn and Lynette Rosebrook were thanked for once again doing the work to prepare the Garden Group Program Book. Members were reminded the plant exchange at the fairgrounds will be held on April 27; you can shop even if you don’t have a plant to bring. Fostoria Garden Club has invited us to attend their Annual Guest Night Dinner on May 8 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria.

Hostesses for this meeting were Linda Frizzell, Carol Ballard and Sharon Daniels. Next meeting of Garden Group will be on May 21 beginning at 5 p.m. for planting flowers at the Northend Welcome Sign, and continuing afterward for a short business meeting at City Park. All members of Women’s Club are invited to share in this activity to welcome visitors to our city.
