The jury deliberated for three hours before returning with 20 guilty verdicts against a former strength and conditioning coach.

Zachary Gibson, 32, stood while Wood County Common Pleas Judge Joel Kuhlman read the verdicts.

Gibson was indicted twice, in 2022 for inappropriately touching a juvenile and possessing an obscene photo of that same juvenile and then in 2023 for three counts of rape of another juvenile who reportedly was unconscious, and pandering for creating a video of the event.

Charges in the 2022 case include two counts of sexual battery, both third-degree felonies; and two counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, both fifth-degree felonies.

The offenses occurred while Gibson worked with the baseball and basketball teams at Bowling Green High School.

The jury found him guilty of all four charges.

Charges in the 2023 case include three counts of rape, all first-degree felonies; six counts pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person, all second-degree felonies; three counts gross sexual imposition, all fourth-degree felonies; one count disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony; illegal administration or distribution of anabolic steroids, a fourth-degree felony; and two counts failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, both unclassified misdemeanors.

The jury also found him guilty of these charges but not guilty of one count of importuning.

Gibson, formerly of Bowling Green, was a strength and conditioning coach at BGHS and was employed by Fastrak Performance. The company has since closed.

According to testimony heard this week Gibson engaged in sex with a male on July 2-3, 2021, when the male was 15 years old and was unconscious. Six videos were found on his phone of the him and the unconscious juvenile.

Wood County Assistant Prosecutor Charles McDonald asked for bond be revoked. Kuhlman agreed and Gibson was transported to jail.

Sentencing was scheduled for May 30.

The family of one of the victims declined to comment as they left the courtroom, explaining they didn’t have approval of their attorney.

Michele Wolf, athletic director at BGHS, was in the courtroom for much of the testimony. She also declined to comment.
