Bates Recycling helps fundraise for BG fireworks

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation has announced the first 2024 fundraiser for the BG Boom Festival and Fireworks.

The fundraiser offers a way to recycle and help with the cost of the annual fireworks display for the Bowling Green community.

Those selling aluminum cans for recycling at Bates Recycling will receive their payment as usual, and Bates will contribute five cents for every pound recycled to the BG Boom Festival and Fireworks. mention you want to support BG Boom. This year, the fundraiser will run to June 30.

Cans can be sold during Bates Recycling’s regular operating hours at 12729 Jerry City Road, Cygnet. Information about their hours of operation is available on their website: https://batesrecycling.com. This cannot be combined with any of their other special recycling offers.

For those looking to drop off their aluminum cans in town, Work Leads to Independence (WLI) will be accepting empty cans at their location at 991 S. Main Street. Can donations to WLI will be recycled at Bates to benefit the BG Boom Festival and Fireworks and to enhance WLI’s community activities and events for people with disabilities. Can drop off hours are 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Drop off at the south entrance to the right of the large overhead door.

For those who would like to borrow a portable receptacle to collect cans at their party or event, a few will be available for loan with the completion of a container loan application from the Wood County Solid Waste Management District (available at WCSWMD or WLI). This application is also available on the BG Chamber website at www.bgchamber.net/bg-boom-can-drive/.

This is the fourth year that Chris and Belinda Bates, owners of Bates Recycling, will be running this fundraiser.

Plans are underway for the annual fireworks and more information will be released soon about this July 3 event.
