Bob was born in Bradner on August 6, 1927 to Jesse L. and Elsie E. (Strohl) French.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1952 he returned to Bradner with his bride Mary I. (Dougherty) and together they raised 5 children.
He is survived by his sister Jennifer Sponsler, his son Kevin L. French (Anne), his three daughters Mary Kathleen Waelde, Valerie Ann Culpepper and Wendy Celeste Laycock (Dennis).
He is predeceased by his oldest son Robert Jesse French II (Patricia) and two sisters Eileen E. Taylor and Eleanor French, and one brother William Elwin French.
He was a past commander of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post 338. Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Zenobia Shrine, Toledo. He was also a member and past Master of Pemberville Lodge 516 F&AM, and a former member and Past Chancellor Commander of KP Lodge 429 Bradner.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3-7 p.m. at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. Services will be at Bradner Methodist Church Thursday 11 a.m.
In-lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Albert Bowe American Legion Post 338.
