PERRYSBURG — City council has approved legislation to acquire land for a multi-use path along West Boundary Street.

Council previously approved the development of a design plan for the right-of-way for the path. That plan has been complete, and council at its meeting Tuesday agreed to begin purchasing the land needed for the path.

Council approved a resolution, bypassing three readings and passing it by emergency measure, which authorizes an agreement with West Erie Realty Solutions, LTD, Toledo, for right-of-way acquisition services along West Boundary at a cost not to exceed $72,350.

Services include title reports, appraisals, negotiations and recording fees for eight parcels.

The city also entered into an agreement with CSX Transportation for engineering work associated with the construction of the path, for a cost of $16,885.

The path will cross the railroad tracks, which will require the city to reimburse CSX for the engineering work.

Council also approved several budget amendments, which included $4 million for the East River Road building, $366,430 from the motor vehicle license fund for the 2024 resurfacing project, $466,884.45 from the street trees fund for wages for full time employees, and $50,317.50 for a vehicle for the deputy fire chief.

Also at the meeting, council:

• Approved the using the city’s remaining balance of $466,884.45 from the American Rescue Plan Act to replace lost public sector revenues and pay for salaries associated with police protection, fire and emergency services.

• Approved permits to see bids for public services, police and fire departments. For the police, bids are authorized for four newly marked police vehicles and equipment, eight replacement radios and two detective vehicles. For the fire department, bids will be sought for a Station 38 garage door replacement. For the waste water treatment plant, bids will be sought for Trojan Technologies for UV inventory parts and Clearspan for cover biosolids. The balance of the bids being sought were for the public service sector, and include baseball/softball field shades, Rivercrest restroom fixtures, a JDZ mower, Kubota snow blower/mower replacement, a tilt trailer, F550 bucket truck to replace truck #225, four traffic signals, and a one arm refuse truck to replace vehicle #269 which is 23 years old.

• Approved spending $50,317.50 for a 2023 Ford Expedition XL from Montrose Ford, Akron, for the fire division.

• Awarded a $2,274,577.71 bid to Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon, for pavement repair and placement along various roads in the city. The project consists of milling and resurfacing, curb replacement, and other associated work.

• Approved an ordinance imposing a moratorium of 180 days on granting any permit allowing retail dispensaries, cultivators and any processors of cannibus within the city limits.
