George T. Vollmar, 78, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Monday April 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 16, 1946, to the late David and Carrie (Ershick) Vollmar. He married Anna L. Harris on July 3, 1965, and she survives in Bowling Green.

George was in the National Guard serving from 1966 to 1972. After serving in the National Guard, he started working for HJ Heinz Company, where he worked for 9 years. He left Heinz and became a forklift operator for Campbell Soup, retiring from Campbell in 2005.

George enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and watching the Tigers, Lions, Pistons and OH State games. He was known to be an avid sports fan. Above all he cherished the moments he got to spend with his family and grandchildren.

Along with his loving wife of 58 years, Anna, George is survived by his sons Allen (Michelle) Vollmar of Weston, Ohio, Tom (Brettina) Vollmar of Woodville, Ohio, daughter Carol (Tim) Barr of Tontogany, Ohio, sisters Shirley Householder, Betty Box, Ruby Ducat, Rose Davis, 4 grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne Vollmar, Paul Vollmar, Dave Vollmar, Richard Vollmar, Laurence Vollmar, sisters Kay Reeder, Francis Chancey, and Ilene Jeffers.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday April 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Tontogany American Legion located at 18086 Tontogany Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, where full military honors will be rendered by the Wood County Honor Detail. Pastor Forester will officiate.

It is George’s wish that all in attendance wear their favorite sports apparel. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home Tontogany, Ohio.
