Peter S. Hauge, 83 of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.

He was born on November 3, 1940, to the late George and Floy Ethyl (Wilbur) Hauge in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Peter was a third-generation Hauge American citizen from Norway, with his grandfather Albert Hauge building a farm in Powers Lake, North Dakota. He graduated high school from Minnehaha Academy. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Minnesota where he received his PhD, Master’s of Science, and Bachelors of Science, Cum Laude. After graduating he was recruited by Hewlett-Packard, Bell Laboratories, and IBM, he chose IBM in 1968, which led him to relocate to Yorktown Heights, New York. He started his career with IBM as a research scientist and retired in 2006, after 38 years.

He was also the editor of the Research Journals for IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center and worked at IBM Academy. During his career at IBM, he authored over 20 conference papers and presentations, and secured multiple innovative patents.

While living in New York, Peter was a member of The Clarion Chorale Choir. This group of avocational singers, led by world-renowned conductor Steven Fox, recorded and performed at concert venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall. He also sang tenor with the Perrysburg Choir and was cantor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, OH.

He was a member of Powderhorn Park Baptist Church in Minneapolis as a child, Yorktown Church of the Nazarene in New York, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowling Green, OH, where he served on the church’s council, and an adult Sunday school teacher. Peter enjoyed gardening, all things music, genealogy, bowling, volleyball, swimming, diving, tennis, and playing softball in his church’s league. Peter was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed attending Yankee baseball games with his sons and grandchildren. He loved to travel. His travels stretch from the Marshall Islands to Egypt, Israel, Norway, and Italy.

Peter will be missed dearly by his children, Mike (Lyz Rothman) Hauge of Santa Barbara, California, Jeff (Penny) Hauge of Bowling Green, Ohio, sister Kathryn Moor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, grandchildren Graham Hauge, Paige Hauge, Katie (Tim) Wiltshire, great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Wiltshire and Jameson Wiltshire.

He is preceded in death by his former wife Beverly Anderson, sister Barbara Gilbertson, brother-in-law Roger Gilbertson and Ronald Moor.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be announced at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home Tontogany, Ohio.
