CLEVELAND — The Mid-American Conference announced Monday that Bowling Green State University baseball player Tyler Ross earned MAC Co-Player of the Week recognition, his second of the season.

This is the third consecutive week BGSU has received the award with Ross being named on March 11 and Jack Krause being named on March 18. The Falcons have now had five awards this season with D.J. Newman and Nic Good previously earning the MAC Pitcher of the Week award as well.

Ross had a monstrous weekend at the plate for the Falcons, logging a batting average of .455 and a slugging percentage of 1.273. Ross erupted for a total of two doubles, two triples and a home run over the course of the three-game series sweep over Akron while registering four RBI and scoring four times himself.

Ross’ best game of the series came on Saturday when he went 3-for-4 with a double and two triples, tying the program record for triples in a game as just the 10th Falcon ever with two in the same contest. He added a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in the game.

Ross’ other double came in Friday’s (March 22) game. As for his home run, Ross saved the best for last with a three-run, go-ahead blast in the series finale on Sunday (March 24), tallying three-RBI with the home run.

BGSU completed aweekend sweep at home on Sunday with a 15-5 win over Akron in seven innings at Steller Field. The run-rule victory moves the Falcons (11-8 overall) to 9-0 to open MAC play, continuing the best MAC start in program history. This also marks three straight MAC sweeps for Bowling Green for the first time since the 2008 campaign.

The Falcons are set for a midweek contest on Tuesday against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start in South Bend, Ind.

The Falcons will then play a Thursday-Saturday non-conference series on the road against Xavier. BGSU’s next MAC series is against Northern Illinois on April 5-7 and their next home game is scheduled for April 10 at 3 p.m. against Purdue Fort Wayne.
