Dale E Whitt, 91, of Tontogany, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

He was born on August 19, 1932, to the late Lowell and Vinnie (Spencer) Whitt in Toledo, Ohio. He married Carol Berie in 1959 and she preceded him in death on December 1, 2018.

He is remembered as a loving husband and father.

Dale served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. After the military he worked as a master carpenter for 40 years and upon retiring was an owner/operator of a dump truck. He lovingly renovated an 1860’s Victorian style house, that served as the Whitt family home for 50 years. He was a leader of the Blazing Saddles 4-H club, enjoyed carpentry work, building cabinets, racing Harley Davidsons on flat track and classic cars. Above all he cherished the time that he got to spend with his family.

Dale is survived by his children Greg (Carmel) Whitt of Perrysburg, Ohio, Kevin Whitt of Perrysburg, Ohio, Brenda (Brett) Swanson of Tontogany, Ohio, grandchildren Brad (Hayley) Babcock, Ryan (Emily) Babclark , Hunter Whitt, Chris Cleland, Stephen (Ali) Cleland, Michael (Stephanie Elvey) Cleland, stepgrandchildren David Miller, Casey Swanson and great-grandchildren George, Deliah, Lorelei, Aveline and Scarlett.

Along with his parents and loving wife Carol, Dale is preceded in death by his siblings Iva, Vera, Verba Jane, Lowell Jr., Frank, Lucille and Bobby.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home located at 18620 Washington St. Tontogany, Ohio 43565.

His funeral service will be Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Bauerle will officiate. Interment will follow at Tontogany Cemetery.
