A Bowling Green woman died by suicide earlier this week.
Bowling Green police was called to the 700 block of Sand Ridge Road around 11: 30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a suicidal female.
Upon their arrival, officers attempted to establish communication with the woman at the front door of the residence and by phone but were unsuccessful, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.
At one point, officers saw two hands holding a handgun break the threshold of a door on the north side of the building and ordered the person to drop the gun. The woman then disappeared behind the building and officers heard a single gunshot, according to the report.
Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived. The woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The roommate told officers she had told him she wanted to shoot herself. He said he kept firearms in the residence but when he left for a short while, he forgot to take one with him.
